Following the postponement or cancellation of the next three IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak and precautionary measures, Era Motorsport is rolling out a livery design contest for their fans around the world. As quarantine measures are being encouraged and implemented worldwide, Era Motorsport is asking fans to stay home and compete to design the livery for the No. 18 ORECA 07 prototype for October’s Petit Le Mans and November’s rescheduled Twelve Hours of Sebring.
“It’s tough to be missing out on events in our first year of IMSA Weathertech, but we’re fully behind the steps that have been taken to keep us and our fans safe and slow the spread,” said Era Motorsport Team Owner Kyle Tilley. “It’s a tough time for everyone right now, and we hope this contest not only keeps people at home and occupied, but gives us all something to look forward to.”
The team has made a blank template available on their website for download, and will also welcome hand drawn or photoshopped designs, as well as artwork from Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo Sport, or any other system. Fans can submit their designs via an upload form on the team’s website before September 1, 2020. The entire team will vote on the winning design, and immediately get to work to have the No. 18 Oreca wrapped in time for October’s Petit Le Mans.
“We’ll likely have to make some minor adjustments for sponsors and such, but we want the heart of the design to come from the fans,” said Tilley. “The IMSA fans have been so welcoming to us, and we’re really looking forward to what kind of designs they come up with!”
